MANILA – Pageant fans have high hopes for Laura Lehmann, who was crowned Miss World Philippines 2017 on Sunday.
She is set to represent the country in the Miss World pageant on November 18 in China. Megan Young, who competed in 2013, is the only Filipina so far who has been successful in bringing home the crown.
Will Lehmann be the Philippines’ second Miss World winner? Here are some fast facts about this 24-year-old beauty:
1. She is a former courtside reporter
Lehmann was a courtside reporter for the Ateneo de Manila University during seasons 77 and 78 of the UAAP. She continues to appear on ABS-CBN Sports as a host.
2. She is no stranger to pageants
Prior to being crowned Miss World Philippines 2017, Lehmann competed in Binibining Pilipinas 2014 and finished as a runner-up.
3. She is a former lifestyle show host
Lehmann has traveled across the Philippines with co-host Walter Demesa for “Listed,” a show on the cable channel Lifestyle.
4. She is also a model and endorser
Aside from being a beauty queen and TV host, Lehmann is also a professional model and endorser.
5. She is dating a basketball player
Lehmann is currently in a relationship with basketball player and fellow Atenean Von Pessumal, who now plays for the PBA.
6. She is BFFs with Alyssa Valdez
Take a quick look at Lehmann’s Instagram feed and you will see many photos of her with volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez, who is also her schoolmate in Ateneo. “Forever,” wrote Lehmann in one of her photos with Valdez, showing that the two are quite close.

Before becoming a courtside reporter and dating an athlete, Lehmann is already into sports. She used to play touch rugby and football when she was young.
