MANILA -- Many of you may be leaving out the most important step of your skincare routine: Cleansing. Not washing your face invites a layer of grime that can lead to inflammation, dry and itchy skin—even signs of aging.

We know that at some nights, the mere idea of cleansing our face sounds downright exhausting, but it is absolutely necessary to never skip this step. After all, no amount of expensive moisturizer or makeup could replace the importance of cleansing your face every day.

Of course, don’t just take our word for it. Listen to what these beauty professionals have to say about making skin cleansing a habit:

“Before, I would always try to cover up my pimples and skin imperfections with a ton of makeup,” says Vina Guerrero, the beauty blogger. “But then I realized that instead of covering those up with my makeup, I should address the root of the problem. True enough, with clean, healthy, and hydrated skin, I didn’t need to use as much makeup, and when I did, makeup was easier to apply!”

Fortunately, with all the innovations in skincare today, cleansers now come in a variety of forms, and prices, to best suit individual preferences. But more importantly, modern skincare brands have made cleansing easier, and more efficient.

Celebrity makeup artist, Anthea Bueno, had this to share about her recommended cleanser line: “Just recently, I made the decision to take better care of my skin. But I was overwhelmed by the different skin regimens I researched online,” she says. “But Simple (Simple Sensitive Skin Experts) has made my life easier, because it’s trimmed everything down to the essentials! Instead of an hour, it takes me just minutes to remove my makeup and cleanse my face.”

Given all the innovations in skincare, there’s really no excuse to not have a cleansing routine, as several beauty brands offer variations of cleansers, and even some dual functional cleanser that fight acne, combat wrinkles, and dark spots, and so much more.

“I love Simple Micellar Water!” recommends Mayesa delos Santos, a professional makeup artist. “It works in wonders in removing makeup and hydrating skin. The best part? There’s no need to rinse after! It’s designed for sensitive skin, perfect for all skin types.”

So before you feel like sleeping in your makeup again, you ought to reconsider and take that few extra minutes to relieve your skin from the daily stressors. You’re definitely bound to see improvements in your complexion in the next few days.
