MANILA – Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach found herself in Thailand over the weekend, saying that her trip was “unexpected.”
“Enjoying an unexpected trip to Thailand,” Wurtzbach, who is based in New York as part of her Miss Universe duties, wrote as a caption in one of her latest photos on Instagram.
She did not specifically mention why she visited the Southeast Asian country.
In another Instagram post, Wurtzbach congratulated Chalet Namtan Suansane, Thailand’s representative in the next Miss Universe pageant. The Thai beauty queen was crowned last July 23.
Last month, Wurtzbach returned to her home country, the Philippines, to discuss with President Rodrigo Duterte the possibility of holding the next Miss Universe in the country.
Days after Wurtzbach’s visit, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo announced that the next Miss Universe will be held in the Philippines in 2017.
