Bangs Garcia's tips on getting back in shape after pregnancy

MANILA – Bangs Garcia is living proof that a woman can still get back in shape after giving birth in her 30s.

The actress documented her health and fitness journey in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday, showing her 1 million followers how she lost her baby weight in a matter of months.

“When I was young, I used to hear that when a woman bears a child at 30 years and older, she cannot get back her pre-pregnancy body anymore. That’s why my ideal age to get married was about 25 or 26, so I’d have enough time to bear children before I turn 30. Now, I am 31 with an 8-month-old baby,” she said.

“I strongly disagree that a woman can’t get back into shape at this age! It may not be exactly as it used to be, but it is possible. Perhaps, with perseverance, you could be in a better shape than before.”

Garcia stressed the importance of regular exercise, a healthy diet, and regular consultations with the doctor before, during, and after pregnancy.

She said her self-discipline in exercising and eating helped a lot in getting back her bikini-ready body. “I’m so glad I trained hard a few years ago, hence, it improved my wellness… I made sure I ate really well.”

The actress went on to share her pregnancy diet, which consisted of quinoa, salmon, mackerel, chicken breast, beef, vegetables, fruits, pasta, wheat bread, eggs, and soy milk.

She skipped sweets until she reached her seventh month, and did not eat rice and pork until she gave birth. 

For her post-partum diet, she was able to eat most food items, but she focused more on vegetables and fruits.

Garcia gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Amelia last December 5. Amelia is the actress’ first child with her husband, Filipino-British Lloydi Birchmore.
