After parting ways with her husband, Sonya Garcia wanted to move someplace quiet, where she can relive her childhood memories from Capiz.

She found her safe haven in Cavite, planting the flowers she used to see in her grandmother’s backyard. Eventually, she was able to forget about the pain.

And that garden she cultivated is what is now known as Sonya’s Garden.

“Every time you’re here, you feel happy because you have fresh air [and] you get organic food,” Garcia said in an interview on ABS-CBN’s “My Puhunan.”

A popular venue for dates, proposals, and weddings, Sonya’s Garden has a restaurant serving organic vegetables, freshly baked bread, and other healthy fare.

According to Garcia, she never planned on putting up a business. “Actually noong nag-uumpisa ako, wala sa isip ko na magnegosyo, na kumita ng pera. Ang nasa isip ko parati is gusto kong gawin kung saan ako masaya. Masaya ako na nagga-garden, masaya ako na ang mga kaibigan ko pinapakain ko ng mga gulay na organic. So it happened to just evolve,” she said.
