What's on the menu: SONA 2016

MANILA – Monggo, lumpiang ubod and pan de sal return on the menu for President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City on Monday, July 25.

State-run People’s Television Network released on Thursday the menu for Duterte’s first SONA, and it includes three items served during the President’s inauguration last June 30.

These are Monggo Soup, Smoked Fish with Alugbati; Fresh Lumpia Ubod in Pouch; and Pandesal with White Kesong Puti.

Around 800 guests are expected to partake of the Filipino-themed merienda buffet, which will also include:

* Native Chips with Salted Duck Egg Dressing
* Chicken and Spicy Tuna Empanaditas
* Sotong Goreng
* Crispy Triangles of Flaked Chicken Adobo and Mushrooms
* Beef Steak
* Penne with Taba ng Talangka Sauce
* Balut Pate in Profiteroles
* Chicken Skin Crackling

House of Representatives Deputy Secretary General Artemio Adasa Jr. has mentioned that they are making an effort to cut down on expenses, particularly on food.

He said that so far, they have reduced their food budget this year by more than P200,000 by simplifying menus in the President’s events.
