MANILA -- After Sandra Lemonon, another beauty queen expressed her support for Catriona Gray amid controversies involving the former Miss Universe.
Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves took to Instagram to spill "the real tea" after people began making speculations based on the cryptic posts of Gray's ex-boyfriend, model Clint Bondad, last week.
"Yes, he poked around and played games but still enough to keep himself from trouble," Cordoves said without mentioning names, but seemingly referring to Bondad's Instagram Story riddles.
"Guess who filled the gaps of lies? Everyone else," she went on. "Opportunistic people who want to discredit her and people who want to believe in the narrative that, 'finally, cheaters have faced consequences' like some twisted way of perceiving justice for themselves. BTW, not true. I'll leave it there."
Cordoves said it was "hard to stand by the sidelines" as Gray was judged by netizens based on mere speculation, and called on the public to "actively disempower toxic masculinity."
"You can never bring a good woman down," she said.
Over the weekend, Gray's legal counsel denied the authenticity of the Miss Universe 2018 titleholder's alleged topless photo, and said they will take legal action against those involved in its publication.
Her boyfriend, actor Sam Milby, has also defended himself and Gray against "false stories and fake news that people are creating to fill in the blanks."
