A Filipina is among the first cast members announced for the West End adaptation of the 1998 animated musical "The Prince of Egypt," which is set to open in London in February 2020.
Christine Allado, who starred in the West End production of the runaway Broadway hit "Hamilton" as both Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds, will play the "fiery, spirited, and bewitching" Tzipporah.
She was cast alongside Luke Brady, who will play the lead role of Moses, and Liam Tamne and Alexia Khadime, portraying Ramses and Miriam, respectively, a report revealed exclusively.
According to Allado, the musical is about "how people behave when they're faced with something greater than them."
First released in 1998 by DreamWorks Animation, "The Prince of Egypt" explored the life of Moses, based on the Book of Exodus, and how he ultimately led the Hebrew people out of Egypt.
The West End musical will be directed by Scott Schwartz, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Philip LaZebnik.
It will feature 10 new songs by Schwartz, as well as songs from the original film including "When You Believe," "Deliver Us" and "All I Ever Wanted."
