MANILA -- Heart Evangelista took to social media to give an update on the puppy she rescued in Sorsogon back in December.
In an Instagram post, the actress said she has reunited with Daba, now looking like a grown-up dog, during her visit to the province.
"Remember Daba from before? This is her now!" she said, sharing before-and-after photos of her with the dog and her caretaker.
"I'm bringing her back with me to Manila so she can go to doggy school and be ready for adoption!" she added.
Back in December, Evangelista shared on Instagram her first encounter with Daba in Sorsogon.
"Earlier today, I saw this little angel on the street. I just had to stop my car to say hi. It's amazing how even though no one has shown her kindness, it's still their first language. When she saw me approaching her, she started wagging her tail already -- how precious," she recalled.
Evangelista went on: "I had to leave her after because of my schedule but because I couldn't stop thinking about her, I had my friend go back to find and get her. I named her Daba which means 'mahal na anak' in Bicol. I'll be fostering her until she's ready for adoption. I hope that she'll soon find her forever home."
Evangelista recently worked with the animal welfare group Pawssion Project to help rescue a dog that has been abandoned under the rain at the Bonifacio Global City Arts Center in Taguig.
The actress serves as a spokesperson of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, and has been working on putting up an animal welfare facility in Sorsogon.
