MANILA – Here are some of the events, shows, and activities you can check out this weekend.

1. ‘SAFE STEPS KIDS’ LAUNCH

When: July 6 and 7
Where: Manila Ocean Park

Get the chance to meet your favorite Cartoon Network characters this weekend at the launch of a new safety awareness program, “Safe Steps Kids,” at Manila Ocean Park. 

The series educates children on how to react to dangerous situations using well-loved characters from “The Powerpuff Girls,” “We Bare Bears,” and “The Amazing World of Gumball.”

2. SILENT SANCTUARY AT SHANGRI-LA PLAZA

When: July 7, 7 p.m.
Where: Grand Atrium, Shangri-La Plaza

Popular baroque-meets-rock band Silent Sanctuary is taking their greatest hits to Shangri-La Plaza this weekend. 

Known for merging classical music with rock, Silent Sanctuary has produced countless hit songs including “Bumalik Ka Na Sa Akin,” “Ikaw Lamang,” “Sa’yo,” and “Sa Piling Mo” from their latest album, “Langit Luha.” 

3. VIRGIN LABFEST

When: July 5 to 8
Where: Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP)

Don’t miss the last weekend of the Virgin Labfest, which is ongoing until July 7 at the CCP. Established in 2005, the event aims to provide Filipino playwrights a venue to present their unpublished, untried, untested, and unstaged works to the theater-going public. 

Tickets are available at the CCP Box Office and all TicketWorld outlets. 

4. WORLD CHOCOLATE DAY AT CRIMSON HOTEL

When: July 7
Where: Café Eight, Crimson Hotel Filinvest City Manila

Celebrate World Chocolate Day with a decadent culinary concoction of savory dishes including White Chocolate Baba Ghanoush, Cocoa Rubbed BBQ Pork Ribs, sinful desserts, and more. Executive Pastry Chef Benjamin Bourgeois will also hold a free chocolate clay class for kids. Diners will get to take home free Auro Chocolates.
