3D-printed parts used for Israeli military aircrafts

Modern technology is breathing new life into the Israeli military's aging aircraft fleet, with 3D printing technology now being used to create obsolete plane parts.

Because most of its planes are four to five decades old, many of their parts are no longer in production.

The parts instead are 3D-printed in polymer plastics as well as metal.

The military says the new technology allows it to save costs by avoiding pricey manufacturing expenses and by keeping the old aircraft in its active fleet.
