MANILA -- Marco Gallo has ventured into the food business.
The 19-year-old actor has been making Oreo icebox cakes and selling them under the brand Kitchen Amore as his way of keeping himself busy during the coronavirus-induced quarantine.
In an interview with the entertainment website Pep, Gallo said it was his mother who taught him how to make an Oreo icebox cake, which he sells for P250.
"Everything started when I was sitting on my couch and I was really bored because I think I've done everything I could during this quarantine," he said.
"I was chatting with a friend and we started thinking to make cakes just out of fun, and not as a business. That's one of the reasons why it's really cheap, because I didn't want to make money out of it. I just wanted to have a hobby for the meantime!" he added.
A quick look at the Kitchen Amore Instagram page shows that Gallo sells three types of Oreo icebox cakes -- original, creamy, and vegan.
He also offers marshmallow cake balls for P190.
According to Gallo, he also makes an effort to personally deliver the Oreo icebox cakes to his customers.
"Natutuwa naman sila. Usually they wouldn't expect it, but I'm trying to do something different because the motto of my small business is 'food made with love,'" said the actor, who sells 15 to 20 cakes per day.
