Filipina Broadway star Lea Salonga returned to the Tony Awards stage on Sunday (Monday in Manila) as she joined the rest of the cast of "Once On This Island" to perform an excerpt from the nominated show.

"Once On This Island," which opened in December to rave reviews, was nominated for eight Tonys and brought home one award for Best Revival of a Musical.

"The Band's Visit," about Egyptian musicians stranded in a small Israeli town, swept the musical categories with 10 wins.

This was Salonga's fourth time on the Tony stage.

In a social media post ahead of the awards show, she said the first time was in 1991 when she won Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for "Miss Saigon." The second was when she performed in the opening number, and the third time was last year when she was among the presenters along with Filipino actor Jonjon Briones.

"What makes this fourth time special is that this is the first time I'll actually be on the Tony stage with my cast representing our Tony-nominated show! I wasn't on stage performing with the company of 'Miss Saigon' in 1991, and the other shows I was in the original casts of weren't nominated. And I was a replacement in Les Miz, twice. So tomorrow will be very, very special," she wrote on Saturday, adding that hashtag #FirstTimeForEverything.

Ahead of the Tonys, Salonga was among the winners of the popular website Broadway World's annual Theater Fans' Choice Awards, where she was voted Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in "Once on This Island." The musical also won Best Revival, Best Choreography, and Best Leading Actress in a Musical, among others.

"Once in This Island" tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who falls in love with a wealthy boy from the other side of the island.

Salonga plays the role of one of the island gods who will help Ti Moune reunite with the man who has captured her heart.
