MANILA — Each time Gazini Ganados took the Binibining Pilipinas stage Sunday night, reactions from pageant fans on social media appeared to be in unison in dubbing her presentation, "baklang-bakla."

For some, the term was "binakla" — to better encapsulate Ganados decidedly hamming up her strut and gaze as an aspiring queen.

The 23-year-old model from Talisay, Cebu was a standout in both the swimsuit and evening gown portions, and even won the special award for the latter.

Immediate reactions to her showing in both were a mix of awe and amusement, with many on Twitter saying they were won over by Ganados' "kabogera" walk, which they described as a notch more theatrical than her co-candidates'.

Some surmised that her presence and "pasarela" in the earlier rounds were enough to offset her question-and-answer performance, which, they said, was not as impressive given she did not directly tackle the topic given to her.

Others compared Ganados' appearance to international queens, including the likes of South Africa's Tamaryn Green and Venezuela's Sthefany Gutierrez — Catriona Gray's runners-up in Miss Universe 2018.
