Japan's Mos Burger is coming to the Philippines next year.

Nikkei Asian Review reported on Friday that the company plans to open its first branch at an unspecified location in Metro Manila by the end of March 2020, with a goal of running 50 outlets by 2027.

The new franchise will be a partnership between Mos Food Services and Tokyo Coffee Holdings, the report furthered.

Mos Burger is one of Japan's most popular burger brands, with international branches in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Australia, and South Korea.

It is best known for serving healthier alternatives, such as its yakiniku rice burgers and its Natsumi line of leafy sandwiches, which replaces hamburger buns with lettuce.

The move follows a string of news related to international burger chains: the opening of Shake Shack's first Manila branch, and of an In-N-Out pop-up last week.
