LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte - Ilocanos really can't get enough of garlic longganisa.
A restaurant in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte has turned this famous staple into a creamy confection.
Good Vibes Cafe, run by Christine Salvador, has come up with a unique sweet in its dessert list that honors the Ilocano cuisine.
The "longganisa ice cream," made of vanilla ice cream topped with longganisa bits, is a must-try when visiting the north. Thrown also into the mix are chia and flax seeds and a kick of whiskey.
"It’s healthy in a way na tinanggal namin ‘yung oil ng longganisa tapos less fat na siya so wala ‘yung greasy part for the health conscious," Salvador said.
For P100, tourists can indulge a scoop of this frozen delight.
"So parang we are giving our kailian more reasons to eat longganisa in a different way," Salvador added. - Report from Grace Alba, ABS-CBN News
