'Ang Huling El Bimbo' stars to interpret popular music in online revue

MANILA -- Local theater stars are set to gather this Friday night for an all-original musical revue in celebration of World Environment Day (WED).

Organized by PLDT-Smart Gabay Kalikasan, "Songs for a Changed World: COVID and Climate Change" will feature popular music interpreted by the cast and production team behind the successful musical "Ang Huling El Bimbo."

The show, which aims to depict different people in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be streamed on the Gabay Kalikasan Facebook page and YouTube channel at 8 p.m. on June 5.

It features the concept and libretto of Floy Quintos, musical direction by Myke Salomon, and direction by Dexter Santos.

Part of the lineup are Gian Magdangal, OJ Mariano, Jamie Wilson, Jon Santos, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Sheila Francisco, Gab Pangilinan, Bibo Reyes, Boo Gabunada, Giob Rodriguez, and Phi Palmos.

It will also include Gabay Kalikasan celebrity-advocates Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Gabby Concepcion, Dom Roque, Derek Ramsay, Ogie Alcasid, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid who will be prefacing each act with personal messages.

WED has become a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. This year's theme is "Time for Nature."
