MANILA – Pia Wurtzbach on Wednesday joined the growing roster of personalities using their platforms in calling out recent actions of the government amid the crisis the country is in.
On Twitter, the former Miss Universe titleholder made known her stand in various societal issues by using the hashtags #JunkTerrorBill, #MassTestingNowPH and #ActivismIsNotTerrorism.
Turning candid, Wurtzbach admitted she never really liked commenting on politics simply because “I felt like I didn’t know enough.”
“I wasn’t confident enough to speak up... I also was never really a fan of tweeting (I'm barely online here) but I realized that I need my voice back... and I need to use it,” she said.
While the many challenges besetting the country may seem overwhelming, Wurtzbach said they actually made her feel more empowered especially after knowing she shares the sentiments of other people.
“Sa lahat ng nangyayari ngayon sa Pilipinas at sa mundo.. overwhelming. 'Di ba? Parang di mo alam kung maiiyak ka o magagalit. Parang pakiramdam mo minsan powerless ka. Parang sasabog 'yung puso mo. 'Yung feeling na parang may gusto kang sabihin. May kailangan kang sabihin,” she said.
“Pero na-realize ko na hindi ako powerless... kasi hindi ako nag-iisa,” she added.
Aside from Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has also used her social media platform in voicing out her opinion on national issues.
