MANILA – Pia Wurtzbach is honored to have a community center for her main advocacy, HIV/AIDS, named after her.

The Miss Universe 2015 titleholder is set to fly to her hometown of Cagayan de Oro this August to visit the Oro Pia community center, which recently had its soft opening.

“It’s named Oro Pia because ‘oro’ means gold, [and Cagayan de Oro is] a city of golden friendship. And Pia, they were nice enough to name it after me, so I’m really excited to visit this community center,” Wurtzbach said in an interview on ANC’s “Early Edition” aired Thursday.

“I’m excited to go back to my roots also, to go back home,” she added. “I grew up in Cagayan de Oro, so it’s a nice homecoming.”

According to Wurtzbach, she will be dedicating an episode of her travel show on Metro Channel, “Pia’s Postcards,” to the Oro Pia community center and the HIV/AIDS organization Love Yourself Philippines.

Reiterating her call to get tested and be informed about HIV/AIDS, Wurtzbach said: “It’s so easy, guys. You don’t have to be directly affected to be curious.”

“It can happen to all of us and we need you guys, we need more champions to help us in this cause.”
