MANILA – “So we went home to rest and found that that Notre-Dame Cathedral is on fire just now. Like this is live, guys.”
Laureen Uy can be heard saying this in her Paris vlog, which was uploaded online on Wednesday.
The fashion blogger, it turned out, was in Paris last April and was supposed to visit Notre-Dame Cathedral the day it caught fire.
“Well I guess we’re also so lucky that we didn’t go today or this afternoon, or else baka nasa loob kami while the fire is happening,” she said, with the CNN live coverage of the Notre-Dame Cathedral fire seen in the background.
“But [we’re] also sad [about what happened],” she went on. “I’m sure the next few days closed na ‘yung Notre-Dame Cathedral. But we’re still going to try, but it’ll take years for them to fix it.”
The next day, Uy and her boyfriend visited the damaged cathedral and said a few prayers.

A massive fire consumed the Notre-Dame Cathedral last April, destroying the roof of what is dubbed by the Vatican as the “symbol of Christianity in France and in the world.”
Donations in millions of dollars poured in from across the globe to help repair the Paris landmark.
