MANILA - The force was strong in a Makati theater as Star Wars fans dressed as troopers attended an exclusive screening of the franchise's latest installment, Thursday.
Members of the Philippine Garrison of the 501st Legion and the Bagong Pag-Asa Base of the Rebel Legion, official Star Wars fan groups recognized by Lucasfilm, came in full gear to witness the unveiling of a 7.4-foot Chewbacca statue.
A lightsaber exhibition done by Fightsaber Philippines was also held for mall goers.
Celebrities and Star Wars fans who attended the event proceeded to watch "Solo: A Star Wars Story" which will premiere in Philippines cinemas next week.
The latest Star Wars flick focuses on the story of Han Solo, how he met his Wookie co-pilot Chewbacca, and how they went through a series of daring escapes from space villains to surface as the "saga's most unlikely heroes."
