MANILA -- Those who are planning to get their hair styled by a professional would have to wait longer as salons and other related establishments are still not allowed under the modified enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced the sectors that could operate under the modified ECQ which will be implemented in Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu City starting May 16.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Roque said salons and barbershops will not be able to operate during the ECQ and modified ECQ, and are still being reviewed for the general community quarantine (GCQ) implemented in the rest of the country.
"Ang mga barbero at mga salon... hindi pa rin po allowed. Pahabaan ng buhok," Roque said in jest.
Personal care services such as spas, saunas, facial care, and waxing are not allowed under the ECQ, modified ECQ, and GCQ.
Only non-aesthetic services in hospitals and clinics -- such as dermatological, dental, optometric, eye, ear, nose, throat -- can operate in all three forms of quarantine imposed by the government.
Those who miss getting glammed up, however, can buy personal care items, clothes, accessories, and jewelry with the easing of the COVID-19 lockdown.
