MANILA – Host Korina Sanchez finally got to celebrate her first Mother’s Day.
The “Rated K” host made the most out of the occasion as she wore a shirt that read “Our first Mother’s Day” while holding her twins, Pepe and Pilar.
“Sa wakas, ako naman,” she said in an Instagram post on Sunday. “I always wanted children. Wasn’t sure it would ever happen.”
Sanchez, who is now in her 50s, welcomed her twins with senatorial candidate Mar Roxas early this year via gestational surrogacy in the United States.
As she marked her first Mother’s Day, the former “TV Patrol” anchor could not help but pay tribute to her own mom, Celia.
“How I wish my Mom were around. So today, I honor my mother Celia,” she began. “She was working in Hong Kong then as a singer, they were a big family of meager means. She worked to send all her 6 siblings through school, forgetting her own dream to become a lawyer.”
Sanchez continued: “She made a life for me and my brother, started her own company that grew to be one of the largest in the country, built her dream house with a pool and my very own pink room. She cooked so well, was an interior designer, always dressed to the nines, gave us the best of most things in life.”
“She had to bury her own son, my younger brother, when he was 19. And in his honor, she lived her best life by going back to school at almost 60. She wasn’t perfect, but she was all of these good things.”
Sanchez went on to hope that her twins, Pepe and Pilar, will also grow up to be like her mother.
