MANILA – It’s safe to say that All Day Supermarket is grocery heaven, with a complete selection of goods in every aisle.

But what makes this place extra special is its “paluto” section.

Inspired by dampa-style cooking, the concept allows customers to shop for their ingredients and have them prepared on the spot by All Day’s in-house staff.

The paluto is targeted at people who don’t know how to cook, or those who do not have time to make a home-cooked meal. It is considered a dream come true by some busy moms, who have to juggle work and attending to the household.

Instead of spending a lot of time and energy for a family dinner, they only need to pay a small amount (P18.50 to P21 per 100 grams, minimum of 500 grams) to have their ingredients whipped up into a delicious meal.

There is an extensive list of dishes that they can choose from. Bestsellers include caldereta, bulalo, lechon kawali, adobo, escabeche, tempura, baked mussels, chicken teriyaki, and porterhouse steak.

The first step is to pay for the chosen cuts of meat and seafood, as well as other ingredients, at the paluto cashier. Beef caldereta, for instance, not only requires meat but also potatoes, carrots, tomato sauce, liver spread, and cheese. The good thing about this is all items are bought at supermarket prices.

Cooking time takes around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the dishes ordered. This lets customers spend more time shopping at the supermarket, or even the neighboring furniture shop All Home.

Dishes prepared at the paluto counter can be eaten hot and fresh at All Day’s dining area, or have them packaged for takeout.
