PH dance groups win big at Asian high-schoolers hip-hop tournament

HONG KONG—Two Filipino dance groups won big at the 9th High Schoolers Asian Hip Hop Championship at Youth Outreach in Sai Wan Ho here on Sunday, May 5.

Galvanize, a senior high-school group from University of Santo Tomas, bested 17 other participants from Korea, Macau, and Hong Kong in the choreography category. 

The winning team took home scholarships worth 8,000 Hong Kong dollars (P53,277), 10 Kappa t-shirts, and a trophy.

Meanwhile, VMDT (Vicentinian Maraynon Dagyaw Theatre) Crew of Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School in Cadiz city, Negros Occidental, took home scholarships worth 2,000 Hong Kong dollars and a bronze trophy. They lost to South Korea's Bling Girls.

Eighteen groups participated in the choreography category. 

The competition is organized by the School of Hip Hop Hong Kong and Youth Outreach, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth.
