Here's how Philippine police are trying to end discrimination in their ranks.

Police Officer 2 Clarissa Santos is the first ever winner of "Gwapulis Din 2017," a pageant organized by local police for lesbian officers.

Santos, who works at the Pasig Central Police Station, defeated 10 other contestants from all over the Eastern Police District for the title.

PO1 Kathlene Banaga of the Marikina CPS placed first runner-up while PO1 Marie Antonette Gollayan of the San Juan CPS was 2nd runner-up.

Organizers led by Eastern Police District Director Romulo Sapitula, hope that the contest would help end gender discrimination and show equality for members of the LGBT community in the police force.

The event featured a talent section, a casual wear segment, and a formal wear round, and was held at the Tanghalang Pasigueño in Pasig City Friday night.
