MANILA - Broadway Asia and Dreamworks are bringing the beloved characters of the popular animation “Kung Fu Panda” to the theater stage.

Wushu champion and model Janice Hung announced on her social media accounts that she “can’t wait to bring Tigress to life” in “Kung Fu Panda Live.”

Hung also quoted five-time Tony award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman in saying that the show is “a real cross of musical theater, cirque, and Hollywood, all those worlds coming together along with the art of Kung Fu.”

Tigress, the character she will portray, was originally voiced by Angelina Jolie in the movies.

“She is the leader of the Furious Five and the deuteragonist of the Kung Fu Panda franchise. She is the master of the Tiger style of kung fu, the adoptive daughter of Shifu, and the adoptive younger sister of Tai Lung,” said Hung.

According to a Broadway World article, “Kung Fu Panda Live” will begin in late December 2019 at Venetian Theatre in Macau.
