MANILA — Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach delivered on Monday nearly 12,000 face masks to a dozen hospitals that are caring for novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.
The distribution was the result of a fundraiser Wurtzbach launched recently. The project aims to secure 25,000 pieces of surgical masks, costing around P600,000.
On Monday, the beauty queen shared photos of the latest batch of face masks she and her team brought to 12 hospitals. In total, they donated 11,900 pieces.
That count is apart from the 5,000 masks she handed over to four hospitals in Metro Manila on March 31.
"Time well spent today," she wrote on Instagram. "And a big thank you to everyone who made a donation... You made this happen. Maraming salamat po. I will keep you posted on our progress."
Wurtzbach, 30, is one of many celebrities spearheading their respective relief drive or fundraiser to aid vulnerable communities and frontline workers amid the COVID-19 crisis.
