MANILA – Floyd Mayweather Jr. underwent a Thermage procedure here moments before he was introduced as the newest endorser of the Belo Medical Group.
The retired American boxer, who just came from a vacation in Boracay, said he is happy to be back in the Philippines for a second time.
“I travel the world all the time and just to come to the Philippines again and be embraced by the Filipinos is amazing. Great place, great people, so positive,” he said.
“It’s different,” he said of Thermage, which is a skin tightening treatment. “I got shocked a couple of times, but I’d do it again.”
Mayweather had a quick meeting with members of the press on Tuesday afternoon at New World Hotel in Makati, then went on to have a photo shoot for Belo Medical Group.
He was with the local beauty empire’s founder, Vicki Belo, and her daughter Cristalle.
“His skin is really good, it’s strong and tight,” said Belo of Mayweather. “He responded very quickly [to the procedure] because his skin is healthy to begin with.”
When asked to react to the fact that they just got the rival of Manny Pacquiao – a close friend of the Belos – as an endorser, she replied: “The first thing I did is to call Jinkee (Pacquiao’s wife) and asked her, ‘Is it okay with you guys?’ She said, ‘Oh my gosh, I am so proud of you. Congratulations!’”
Belo went on: “First of all, Manny’s not the type [to make a big deal out of things like this]. He’s such a sportsman… They are happy that we have champion fighters in our Belo corner.”
Meanwhile, the beauty doctor to the stars revealed that Mayweather will have a basketball match with Pacquiao.
“You’re going to play basketball with Manny today, right?” she asked the American boxer, who replied: “Yeah.”
