MANILA -- American furniture chain West Elm has introduced virtual backgrounds to help spruce up work-from-home video calls, which are slowly becoming the norm amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The free backdrops can be used on video calls made on Zoom, according to a blog post on the West Elm website.
It features real-life living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens, among others, with designs ranging from "an Insta-famous mid-century living room" to "ultra-cozy cabin vibes."
West Elm shared the downloadable backgrounds along with the blog post, as well as tips on making them more realistic on Zoom calls.
"On Zoom, click the gear settings in the upper right corner. Click 'Virtual Background' from the bar on the left, then press the plus sign to upload the photo of your choice. These scenes honestly look pretty realistic (pro-tip: just don't move around too quickly!). It will show up as the mirror image, but you can toggle that off if you'd like," the furniture chain said.
"And no offense to Zoom's pre-set options, but we're not talking about a generic outer space scene or a panoramic shot of the Golden Gate Bridge," it added.
