MANILA -- (UPDATE) The Taytay municipal government installed a disinfection tent at the entrance of the town’s largest market in an effort to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Every shopper is required to pass through the tent, before entering the area. Persons inside the tent will be sprayed with an organic disinfectant to help decrease the possibility of transmission.
The misting process only takes seconds.
Despite already being disinfected, shoppers are still required to practice physical distancing inside the market.
The budget for the tent, which costs around P60,000 each, was taken from the calamity fund allotted for the fight against COVID-19.
Mayor Joric Gacula said they are in the process of procuring more tents and he plans to install another one in a different market.
In an update posted by the Taytay Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, the town has eight confirmed novel coronavirus cases to date.
