MANILA – In just a few months, Michele Gumabao will pass on her Binibining Pilipinas Globe crown.
The volleyball star shared the stage with this year’s Bb. Pilipinas candidates in last week’s launch of Ali Mall’s newest wing, and one of them will be her successor.
“It’s actually the first time I’ve seen them all 40 together after the screening, and it takes me back to when we first started Binibini. I can’t believe it’s finally time to turn over our crowns, the coronation night is just around the corner,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
“I’m excited for what’s going to happen to the new batch this 2019,” she added.
Gumabao’s win in Bb. Pilipinas allowed her to represent the country in Miss Globe 2018, where she finished as a Top 15 finalist.
While she admitted that joining Bb. Pilipinas was “just a spur of the moment decision,” it is an experience she will never forget.
“I’m very, very happy with what happened the past year,” she said. “I met a lot of people not only in the industry, but I’ve also had a lot of sisters… Each and every girl made an impact in my life, one way or another.”
When asked if she is planning to join another pageant after Bb. Pilipinas, Gumabao replied in jest: “My age for pageantry is kind of too old or too late already. I’m turning 27 this September.”
“But you know, if the cards are there for me and if it’s in God’s plans for me to join another one next year [then so be it]. You’ll never know,” she went on.
“I’m sure that if I do join another pageant, my family, my friends, and all my supporters will always be there to back me up. So maybe, we’ll see.”
Should she decide to enter the pageant scene again next year, Gumabao can still compete in Miss Philippines Earth, which has an age limit of 28.
