JAKARTA, Indonesia - “Win or lose, you're going to become a whole new woman.”
This was Pia Wurtzbach’s message to the 40 contestants of this year’s Binibining Pilipinas.
Although she has yet to meet all of them, the former Miss Universe said the pageant experience will certainly teach them a lesson or two.
“For the repeaters, don't get discouraged that you're joining again. I always feel like if it's really your dream, they you should go for it,” she said.
“To anybody who's new, you know, when you join a pageant like Binibining Pilipinas or Miss Universe, win or lose, it changes you,” she added.
Speaking from experience, Wurtzbach said she is still carrying with her all the lessons she learned back from when she was still training for the national pageant.
“Like me, I'm not a Miss Universe anymore but I learned so much when I was Miss Universe,” she said. “Even before that, during my training as Binibini and all that, like, it made me who I am right now.”
And for those aspiring to join in the future, Wurtzbach only had one thing to say.
“I urge women out there who feel like they want to join a beauty pageant, go for it because it will really help you,” she said.
Wurtzbach joined Binibining Pilipinas three times before getting the chance to compete in Miss Universe in 2015. She is the country’s third Miss Universe winner.
