MANILA – Janine Tugonon was unable to join her fellow Miss Universe Philippines titleholders in last month’s homecoming show for Catriona Gray in Manila.
But over the weekend, she was able to catch up with her predecessor, Miss Universe Philippines 2011 Shamcey Supsup, during the latter’s visit to New York.
Tugonon took to Twitter to express her excitement over being reunited with Supsup. “So happy to see this girl again!” she said.
Supsup re-posted the photo on her Instagram page, saying: “Thanks for taking the time to meet us, Janine. Na-miss ka namin!”
It was back in 2011 when Supsup represented the Philippines in Miss Universe. She finished third runner-up in the pageant, which was won by Leila Lopes of Angola.
A year later, Tugonon competed in Miss Universe and was named first runner-up to Olivia Culpo of the United States. She went on to pursue a modeling career in New York.
