MANILA – Aside from acting and performing, Sarah Geronimo admitted she also finds a sense of fulfillment in one of her new hobbies – cooking.
Although it took her a while, Geronimo said it is vital for anyone to learn how to cook because it is an “important life skill.”
When asked who her role model is, Geronimo had no one else in mind except her parents who she describes as good cooks.
“Kasi po si mama ko ay Kapampangan. Hindi po sa biased ako pero the best po talaga magluto ang nanay ko sa kahit anong restaurant na natikman ko na Filipino dish. Ang tatay ko po ay masarap din po magluto. Punong puno ng pagmamahal 'yung inihahain sa lamesa namin,” she said.
Having discovered the joys of cooking, Geronimo enrolled in a cooking school when she took a short break from showbiz three years ago.
“Hindi ko naman po masasabi na ako ay parang si Ate Juday (Judy Ann Santos). I am still in the process of learning and discovering how to cook. Napakaimportante po sa akin na maayos and good quality [ang mga ginagawa ko],” she said.
As for the dishes that she would love to learn, Geronimo said she is still trying to learn her mom’s kare-kare and sweet chili prawns and her dad’s pininyahang adobong manok.
In addition to her parents’ influence on her, Geronimo’s boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli may have also contributed to her love for cooking since his family also owns a restaurant.
Talking about her newfound passion, the singer said: “Siyempre po, iba 'yung independence na nabibigay niya sa 'yo kasi you are able to cook for yourself anytime na may gusto kang kainin or for your loved ones and family din po.”
Geronimo was launched as the new Phoenix Super LPG brand ambassador on Thursday.
