MANILA (UPDATED/CORRECTED) - Adoracion Jose Villanueva, the mother of Sen. Joel Villanueva, has passed away, the lawmaker said Tuesday.

"Paalam sa pinakamamahal ko sa lahat ng mahal,” Villanueva wrote in an Instagram post showing what appeared to be his hand holding that of his mother.

More popularly known as “Sister Dory”, Adoracion succumbed to fatal arrhythmia secondary to septic shock, according to the Jesus is Lord (JIL) church founded by her husband, Cibac party-list Rep. and Deputy House Speaker Bro. Eddie Villanueva.

Adoracion helped Bro. Eddie to grow JIL since 1978, leading the religious group to accumulate over 6 million members in 44 countries.

She was a teacher by profession and was also the president of the JIL Colleges Foundation Inc.

JIL said it "lost a spiritual mother, a competent teacher, a prayer warrior, and a model of faith."

"She is now face to face with the God she served all these years, true to the words of St. Paul," the religious group said in a Facebook post.
