She faced off with eight other finalists from across the world in a bartending competition held annually in Texas and Jholan Peñafiel, the Philippines' lone representative, came out on top.
Peñafiel became only the second Filipina to win the TGI Friday's World Bartender Championships, which determines the restaurant's best bartender by testing contestants on their ability to make drinks precisely and quickly, and their knowledge of recipes, products, and other categories.
The first Filipina to take home the title was Rizza Umlas in 2015.
Finishing behind Peñafiel were Michael Ressureccion of the US and Russell Ward of the UK, who were named first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
The other contestants were Alieksander Bondar (Belarus), Chris Owsiany (US), Christal Cravador (Trinidad), Hector Pinones (US), and Will Sexton (US).
