Boracay native: My 'home' needs saving but it doesn't have to be shut down

Shutting down Boracay would be unfair, argues Noa Macavinta, a half-Swedish resort owner who calls the island his "home." But, he acknowledges, it needs saving from more than just one problem. 

Finding a balance between sustaining Boracay and keeping it open to tourists can be achieved, if only everyone would do their part. A future where kids can experience the joy he did running along the island's famous white beaches when he was young is still very much a possibility.
