MANILA – Maggie Wilson never thought that being makeup-free can be “so liberating.”
The host and former beauty queen took to Instagram on Monday to open up about her “biggest insecurity,” which is her skin.
She shared that for the longest time, she has been using makeup to hide her “imperfections,” even at the beach.
“My skin has always been my biggest insecurity. And last week, for the first time in a really long time, I felt confident enough to step out without any makeup. I did it for several days and it felt so liberating,” said Wilson, who won the fifth season of “The Amazing Race Asia” with fellow beauty queen Parul Shah in 2016.
“That might seem small to most people, but being part of an industry that’s so harsh about the littlest of imperfections, I always hid behind makeup to make me feel better about myself. Yes, even at the beach!” she added.
Wilson went on to encourage her Instagram followers to love themselves and embrace their imperfections.
She made it clear, however, that there is nothing wrong with using makeup in general. “I still love makeup, but letting your skin breathe every now and then feels amazing, too,” she said.
Wilson has been giving her Instagram followers a glimpse of her new show on The Metro Channel (formerly Lifestyle Network), “Beached,” with co-host Marc Nelson.
Last month, she bravely responded to a netizen who questioned why she kept flaunting her bikini body.
