MANILA – A Filipina graphic designer from Quezon City is one of the winners of a global Valentine’s Day card contest.
Riva Louise Vicente, 22, was proclaimed one of the runners-up in “The World’s Greatest Valentine’s Day Greeting Card,” a contest held by the crowdsourcing marketplace Freelancer.com.
Her entry was titled “I Love you Bear-y Much.”
“I came up with my idea by looking at what trend is in style nowadays, which is modern but witty. Saying I love you in a different way. I only used Adobe Photoshop and [a] drawing tablet to create it,” Vicente said in a statement released by Freelancer.com.
She went on to share that she sent her winning card to her father, who is based abroad.
“This is one of the few ways I can say how much I love him,” she said.
Vicente shared her runner-up win with New Zealand-based graphic designer Toni Freebairn.
They each took home $100.
Winning the top prize of $200 out of more than 1,300 entries is Devon Harrah from the United States with his entry titled “Love, You Octopi My Thoughts.”
