COPENHAGEN, Denmark – A Filipino-American from Baguio City is carving a name for himself in the world of LEGO designs and robotics.

Lee Magpili, 37, is the only Filipino designer assigned in Billund, Denmark to work with LEGO Education and apply his artistic designs and robotics skills to LEGO toys.

Magpili is a graduate of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University at Buffalo in New York City. He started as a clerk at one of the LEGO stores back in 2003 and ended up as a LEGO robotics designer, focused on LEGO Mindstorm Education EV3.

“He is really cool because he made that big robot out of LEGO,” said Daniel Mathiesen, one of the guests at the LEGO World 2018 at Bella Center in Copenhagen.

Colleague Marc-Andre Bazergui added: “Lee has a very unique way and signature of building LEGOs from dragons all the way to wearable robots and he shares all of these and his inspirations with others especially to kids around the world.”

Ev-an, his featured work at LEGO World 2018 at Bella Center, captivated guests of all ages during the exhibit. His robot has been touring the world to demonstrate the LEGO Mindstorm EV3 and continue to inspire a lot of children around the globe.
