MANILA -- Luxury single malt whisky Macallan recently held an exclusive party to launch the No. 5 in its limited run Editions series at the El Nido Villa of Okada Manila.

“Macallan came up with the series to showcase masteries,” explained Randall Tan, Macallan brand ambassador for Southeast Asia.

No. 1 was a tribute to the mastery of wood and the casks Macallan uses to age its whiskies. No. 2 was a tribute to flavor where Macallan collaborated with Josep and Jordi Roca of top Spanish restaurant El Celler De Con Roca. British perfumer Roja Dove helped create No. 3 as a tribute to the mastery of aroma and scents. And last year, No. 4 was released as a tribute to the structure of whisky and to celebrate the opening of Macallan’s new distillery.

The purple labelled No. 5 is a tribute to color. Macallan takes pride in using natural colors derived from the casks used in aging the whisky. In a Macallan first, first-filled American oak casks are used to age this whisky. Five different casks were used to give the No. 5 its depth and complexity.

“The flavors that you get from the No. 5 will be a little bit more vanilla and more citrus notes. You're going to get pears, nutmeg, and lemon. The ABV (alchohol by volume) is at 48.5, that may or may not affect some people's palates but some people have it. If you take your time to enjoy the edition, No. 5 is a very pleasant whisky to drink,” added Tan.

The Macallan No. 5 is now available at your favorite liquor stores.
