MANILA - Former senator Juan Ponce Enrile paid tribute to his sister, Armida Siguion-Reyna, who passed away Monday.

In a statement, Enrile said he and his siblings grieve Siguion-Reyna's passing, but he is also relieved that she can finally rest.

Enrile also recalled the times he spent with his sister when they were younger.

"Naging malapit na malapit kaming magkapatid. Naaalala ko pa noong araw ay sinasamahan ko siya pumunta ng party, at kahit may baha sa Maynila, ipinagmamaneho ko siya," he said.

He, likewise, praised his sister's achievements as an actress.

According to Enrile, he hopes the younger generation wouldn't forget about his sister.

Siguion-Reyna passed away at the Makati Medical Center on Monday afternoon at the age of 88 due to cancer, according to her sister, Irma Potenciano.

She was the daughter of Purita Liwanag and Alfonso Ponce-Enrile.
