MANILA – Heart Evangelista took time out of her busy schedule to help rescue animals that were affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.
The actress joined Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), where she currently serves as spokesperson, in caring for animals left behind by their owners amid the calamity.
“Don’t worry, little one, we’re all doing what we can to give all of you the love and care you need during this time,” Evangelista said in an Instagram post, which showed her carrying a dog.
In another post, she shared a selfie with another dog, with director Rich Ilustre smiling in the background.
Evangelista said she is thankful to be working with Ilustre for PAWS Philippines for the past 13 years.
Making the most out of her wide social media reach, Evangelista also encouraged her followers via Instagram Stories to help PAWS in their rescue efforts, whether by volunteering or through donations.
Last January, Evangelista visited the PAWS shelter in Quezon City to drop off donations and see three of the dogs that have been rescued from the Taal Volcano eruption.
A well-known animal lover, Evangelista recently worked with the dog rescue group Pawssion Project to provide shelter to a homeless man who cares for stray dogs.
The actress has been an advocate of pet adoption, and is working on putting up an animal welfare facility in Sorsogon.
