MANILA - The ABS-CBN Foundation Building, which is located inside the compound of the broadcast giant in Quezon City, has been renamed after Gina Lopez in honor of the late philanthropist.Lopez, who was also known as a green advocate, was the long-time chairperson of the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI).Speaking at the unveiling ceremony on Wednesday, Lopez’s brother and ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Eugenio "Gabby" Lopez III said the AFI is where his sister made all her dreams happen. “This is where she spent more than 25 years as managing director and chairman. You are her family. This is where she dreamed of making Filipino children smarter and safe, the environment ever green and protected, and families comforted in times of greatest need. Because that is what she lived for -- love. Love for country, love for children, love for the environment and most of all God,” he added.Mr. Lopez said the building is a beautiful reminder of how selfless his sister was by making “a huge difference by truly being in the service of the Filipino.”Ms. Lopez succumbed to multiple organ failure last August 19.
