MANILA -- After showing off their creations during the Mindanao-themed Miss Universe 2016 fashion show in Davao last month, the participating local designers will get to showcase their work at Germany's leading travel trade show next month.

“We plan to bring the show sa ITB Berlin," Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo in a press briefing on Friday.

According to Teo, Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart liked the Davao show the best. That's why the Tourism chief believes the clothes can help boost interest in the country .

“Iyong comment ni Paula Shugart that the dresses were very nice, and she was very happy. Napakaganda daw ng mga damit,” Teo said.

The Mindanao Tapestry show in Davao featured dresses by veteran designer Renee Salud, as well as 10 designers from Mindanao, and used local weaves from the region.

The Internationale Tourismus Boerse (ITB) in Berlin, which will be held from March 8-12, is the biggest travel show in the world, with more than 10,000 exhibitors from around the world taking part annually.

In 2012, the Philippines launched its tourism campaign “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” at the ITB. -- with reports from Vina Araneta, ABS-CBN News
