MANILA – The Miss Universe crown is still within reach for Philippine bet Maxine Medina, who is now part of the Top 6 of the international beauty contest.
The rest of the Top 6 include France, Kenya, Colombia, Thailand and Haiti.
Medina is out to prove her doubters wrong in the Miss Universe question and answer round. Months before the pageant, the model and interior designer was repeatedly criticized by some Filipinos for her communication skills.
Medina is eyeing a back-to-back victory even as the pageant is held in her home country.
Her predecessor, Filipina-German Pia Wurtzbach, was crowned Miss Universe in 2015.
Medina is now on the same level as Charlene Gonzalez, who finished in the Top 6 when the Miss Universe pageant was held in Manila back in 1994.
The 65th Miss Universe is aired live on ABS-CBN channel 2.
