MANILA – Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up Ariella Arida advised Philippine bet Maxine Medina to just have fun as she attempts to make history at the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
At this point of the competition, Arida said Medina should just enjoy every minute she gets to spend with the other candidates because this is a once in a lifetime experience.
She also urged Medina not to be distracted once she steps on stage wearing the Philippine sash.
“Sabi ko kay Max, kahit nakaka-pressure, basta just have fun. Next time na siya mapagod. Alam ko kasi kung gaano nakakapagod but sabi ko, ‘Basta rumampa ka sa stage. Paglabas mo, gawin mo na lahat. Do your best. Huwag ka na mag-isip ng kahit ano,’” she said.
Asked what she thinks of the current batch of candidates, Arida said: “Ang daming maganda. Kanina namimili ako ng mga top ko, parang lampas ng 12. Ang hirap especially ngayon na nakita ko sila in person maglakad. 'Yung mga nakikita ko lang na online photos, it’s different. Naglalabasan bigla. Iba pala in person. You can never tell unless you see them walk, you see them in person.”
With less than a week before the coronation night, Arida said everyone should bring their A game.
“They should be talaga, especially ngayon na preliminaries is here. Bawal na 'yung weak na performance. Sabi nila, baka sa finals night may tinatago pa. Naku dapat ngayon pa lang ilabas na nila kasi you never know baka mamaya one of the judges is watching you. Ibigay na nila kung anong dapat ibigay,” she said.
