MANILA – Three of the dogs that have been rescued from the Taal Volcano eruption have been brought to Manila, and they got a surprise visit from Heart Evangelista.
The actress took to Instagram to share photos of her visit as she appealed for donations to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), where she currently serves as a spokesperson.
“Heartbreaking yet heartwarming to be able to see these dogs that were rescued from Taal. Thank you, PAWS Philippines, for bringing them to safety,” Evangelista said.
“There are still so many dogs, cows, and other livestock that need our love. For those of you who want to help, the PAWS team will be needing cow feed, chicken feed, dog food, cat food, bottles of water, and pet bowls in order to help our furry friends. You may drop off your donations or have them delivered to the PAWS Animal Shelter so the team can bring it to Tagaytay,” she added.
In a Facebook post, PAWS revealed that Evangelista has also dropped off donations at the organization’s shelter in Quezon City.
Referring to the three rescued dogs, it said: “Buster, Aya, and Ashes want to thank everyone who sent pet food, livestock feed, water, and food bowls for the #PAWSTaalRescue operations. Relief efforts will continue throughout the week so please do continue sending your donations to the shelter.”
A well-known animal lover, Evangelista recently worked with the dog rescue group Pawssion Project to provide shelter to a homeless man who cares for stray dogs.
The actress has been an advocate of pet adoption, and is working on putting up an animal welfare facility in Sorsogon.
