MANILA - Para sa maraming Pinoy na nag-o-opisina, madalas ay inaabot sila nang oras-oras na nakaupo lamang sa harap ng computer habang nagtatrabaho.

Pero babala ng isang cardiologist, maraming negatibong epekto ito sa kalusugan ng tao.

Ayon kay Dr. Nannette Rey, mas madaling tumaba ang mga umuupo nang sobrang tagal. Maaari ring tumaas ang kanilang cholesterol at tabang nakikita sa dugo, o ang tinatawag na triglycerides.

Maaari pang tumaas ang tsansang magkaroon sila diabetes.

"Ang tendency, metabolic profile mo hindi talaga maganda tapos malakas ka pa kumain. Triglycerides mo aakyat, bad cholesterol mo aakyat and then 'pag very sedentary ka tataas ang blood pressure mo. Your sugar will also go up," ani Rey sa programang "Good Vibes" ng DZMM.

Ang pagkakaroon ng sobrang cholesterol sa katawan ay nagdudulot naman ng mga komplikasyon gaya ng heart attack o kaya stroke.

Kung maaari, ayon kay Rey: "Move as much as you can kahit sandali lang. The concept is kung kaya kahit isang minuto kada oras you can do short exercises... Ang importante kasi i-boost ang heart rate mo."

Nakakaalis kasi ng taba aniya ang pagkakaroon ng mabilis na heart rate.

Maaari ring gumawa ng mga maiikling ehersisyo.
